My Journey Of Repeating Classes.
That was my primary school up to P.4. I remember repeating P.2, P.3 and my end of year report cards would always bear try P.2, P.3, P.4. My main challenge was the inability to read. I saw most of my fellow learners drop out of school due to the same challenge. When I joined St. Peter’s Primary School Nsambya I repeated the third time that was in P.5. I remember feeling like giving up with education at that point but my unschooled mother was my number one cheer leader, I know how it feels repeating classes over and over. I was all on forms of coaching ( 4 per day) but they didn’t help me at all. I learnt how to read my first word at the age of 11. That word was “Kato” that’s a name given two a male twin. Reading the word Kato gave a lot of reading confidence since I even didn’t know how to read my own name though I could right it down. That’s why we are grateful to GOD for blessing TIN with the RICA approach to kick illiteracy out of Africa. So far we have trained over 10,000 teachers and I have seen over 20000+ school read organically because of RICA without having any external funding.
Soon I will be releasing my first book about my reading journey. “Why Children Can’t Read”.
Stay tuned for the RICA Rhymes that we have called RICA Vibes.
